VANCOUVER – The University of British Columbia and Aquanow announced a partnership to establish the Aquanow DeFi Lab, a multidisciplinary research program focused on decentralized finance at the Blockchain@UBC research cluster.

“It is my pleasure to announce the formation of the Aquanow DeFi Lab, which will offer UBC students the opportunity to contribute to the expanding DeFi industry through meaningful collaborations with industry,” said Dr. Victoria Lemieux, Associate Professor, Blockchain@UBC Cluster lead at the University of British Columbia.

The Aquanow DeFi Lab will offer workshops and hackathons under Blockchain@UBC, and incubate promising blockchain and DeFi projects. This initiative is being spearheaded by fintech leader Aquanow and supported by participants from the traditional capital markets, blockchain communities. and foundations.

“We look forward to collaborating with The University of British Columbia on this important initiative and leveraging the research capacity to develop blockchain protocols and decentralized applications” said Andy Leung, Chief Technology Officer at Aquanow. “Decentralized finance is a rapidly evolving trend in finance that is reimagining traditional finance functions into trustless and transparent protocols.
