Amber Gallant
Master of Library and Information Studies
Faculty of Arts
Amber Gallant is a second-year student at UBC’s iSchool, and a graduate candidate for the Master of Library and Information Studies, class of 2023. Her professional interests within the iSchool lie in knowledge organization, data stewardship and ethics, and the systems design and rhetoric behind “commoning” spaces, including open-access repositories. These interests inform her research focus through Blockchain@UBC’s graduate pathway, where she is interested in exploring the sociotechnical aspects of distributed ledger technology and the use of DLT-based systems in protecting culture and identity. She is currently the project manager of the Guardians of the Record Lab, a group that conducts research into maintaining and protecting the integrity of records in human rights contexts.
