Dr. Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of British Columbia, where she is affiliated with the Electric Power and Energy Systems group. 

She received her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2011 and 2014, respectively.  Prior to graduate school, she earned her B.A.Sc. degree in Engineering Science (Electrical option) from the University of Toronto in 2009. 

Dr. Chen's research interests include power systems analysis, monitoring, and control.
