Ph.D. Electrical and Computer Engineering

Doctoral Student

I am a Ph.D. candidate from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at The University of British Columbia (UBC), where I am working on the convergence of blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) for the next generation Internet of Things (IoT). I am passionate about and experienced in accelerating AI at the network edge!

Both the challenges and opportunities in realizing the future edge intelligence are rewarding. My Ph.D. thesis is on Improving Distributed Machine Learning for Reliable Edge Intelligence, with blockchain serving as a key enabler. I have been working systematically on several important research problems, focusing on the following foundational domains:

- Computing Layer: Developed blockchain approaches to schedule and execute AI computation tasks concurrently among resource-constrained edge nodes.
- Network Layer: Designed novel blockchain consensus mechanisms to optimize resource utilization and reduce latency in edge computing systems.
- Data Layer: Ensured data reliability by addressing data poisoning attacks, handling data distribution shifts, and assessing data valuation using blockchain technology.

I was a Teaching Assistant @ UBC for both undergraduate and graduate courses: Stochastic Signals and Systems [STAT/ELEC 321] and Information and Coding Theory [EECE 566].
